Abstract
Cet article étudie comment la poésie de Michel Beaulieu fait de l’expérience de la ville le territoire privilégié d’une écriture intimiste, symbolisée ici par la rue Draper où a grandi le poète. Contrairement à ce qu’on trouve chez de nombreux poètes du pays, et encore chez des poètes de sa propre génération pour qui la ville exerce une fascination, la ville est sans cesse ramenée par Beaulieu à la répétition du monde quotidien et ressemble à un vieux paysage peuplé de débris et de souvenirs d’autrui. Prenant le risque du dérisoire et de l’insignifiant, cette poésie investit un monde contemporain privé d’idéal et de mystère.
