Abstract
Pierre Chartrand a travaillé durant plusieurs années en Afrique, avec l'ACDI (Agence canadienne de développement international).Il a enseigné notamment en Tunisie, en Côte d'Ivoire et, pendant cinq ans, en Mauritanie, à l'École nationale d'administration de Nouakchott.Membre actif de la Société d'histoire de Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson et Estérel et de la Société généalogique canadienne-française, il s'intéresse tout particulièrement aux activités du baron belge Louis Empain en sol québécois entre 1934 et 1939.En octobre 1999, à l'Université d'Ottawa, il participe à un important colloque ayant pour thème «La présence belge au Canada ».
