Abstract
L’article interroge la généralisation des états d’âme comme analyseur des transformations contemporaines. Se plaçant à mi-chemin entre la défense de convictions et la poursuite de calculs, les états d’âme sont interprétés comme une conséquence imprévue de l’empowerment des acteurs individuels, de leurs capacités de réflexivité, de leur conscience de l’interdépendance des phénomènes sociaux, enfin, de leur sentiment croissant de méfiance envers le collectif. Le résultat, illustré à partir de différentes pratiques sociales, est la constitution d’un sentimentalisme relativement ostentatoire mais peu traduisible en solidarités concrètes.
