Abstract
Le roman chez Aragon est le genre de tous les possibles, qui articulent sans les résoudre les contradictions. Il permet à la fois de défendre l’infini, de s’illimiter — le sujet peut s’y saisir et s’y perdre, s’y trouver et s’y inventer —, d’expérimenter toutes les formes de liberté et d’exercer une forme de prise sur le réel. À l’époque surréaliste, parce qu’il est en partie interdit, ou du moins contrarié, le roman est particulièrement expérimental. On fera ici l’hypothèse qu’il n’y a pas de métadiscours sur le roman possible chez Aragon, qui engloberait les contradictions. Le métadiscours est lui-même gagné par le romanesque. C’est la pratique d’écriture elle-même qui développe une forme de pensée du roman originale.
