Cet article consacré à la poïétique d’Yves Daoust a pour objectif de délimiter un terrain heuristique et herméneutique pour appréhender son oeuvre musicale. À travers une investigation musicologique et sociologique de la présence de références historiques et d’ artefacts sonores au sein de l’oeuvre de Daoust, il s’agit de questionner les processus poïétiques que met en place le compositeur pour favoriser une association à des lieux communs et la reconnaissance de repères symboliques pour les mélomanes partageant une expérience socioculturelle similaire. Il sera possible ensuite de se demander en quoi ce travail se révèle significatif du point de vue individuel et dans quelle mesure un sens précis s’en dégage à l’écoute. La notion d’identité deviendra essentielle à ce moment pour saisir pleinement la dialectique qui se joue dans son oeuvre entre mémoire et distance, entre identification et dépassement critique face aux lieux et événements interpellés. De sorte qu’à la fin de l’article, le lecteur pourra avoir une meilleure idée des niveaux de compréhension auxquels renvoie la musique de Daoust et du questionnement identitaire qui fonde son oeuvre tout en la transportant dans des avenues riches de sens.
