Abstract
Les paysages de Grand-Louis l’innocent jouent des possibilités allégoriques fournies par la structure d’horizon qu’ils mettent en place. Cet article propose conséquemment que ces paysages dépassent le principe de la naïveté bucolique et de l’inscription régionaliste pour se présenter comme les allégorèses matérialistes des personnages. Ils permettent ainsi de lire le roman selon une économie morale d’ordre romantique fondée sur un refus de la transcendance qui a pour effet de replacer l’Homme et son pouvoir au centre du monde. L’imaginaire paysager du roman lefrancien soulève un enjeu d’ordre éthique en ce qu’il offre une critique politique du capitalisme.
