Abstract
L'article tire parti d'une recherche menée en Belgique francophone de 1991 à 1993. Le réfèrent comprend un corpus de 172 associations fournissant de l'aide sociale dans le domaine médico-sanitaire. La problématique est celle des rapports entre secteurs formel et informel dans ce domaine, rapports aussi évoqués par les acteurs comme marchands-non marchands, étatiques-non étatiques ou du travail-du bénévolat. L'étude préliminaire a eu un carac-tère exploratoire et empirique. L'hypothèse des commanditaires étant formulée en termes d'articulation et d'entre-deux, l'analyse a conduit à une réflexion sur les positions tierces — celles des associations, des protagonistes et des acteurs directement impliqués — et au développement d'un modèle à quatre pôles. Ce modèle tétraédrique substitue à l'image dualiste « formel-informel » la métaphore d'un «processus de cristallisation » à six dimensions, celles des rapports entre quatre sphères considérées deux par deux : domestique-privée, marchande, étatique et associative.
