Resumen: En este artculo se analiza el proceso de produccin de significados relacionado con la interpretacin de una grfica cartesiana sobre el movimiento de dos objetos (movimiento relativo).El anlisis, centrado en el trabajo realizado por un grupo de tres alumnos de grado 10 (15-16 aos) en una leccin regular de matemticas, es conducido dentro del marco de la teora de la objetivacin.De acuerdo con dicha teora, los procesos de produccin de significados se investigan a travs de la interaccin discursiva y la movilizacin de signos y artefactos que hacen los estudiantes.El aprendizaje del contenido conceptual en cuestin es visto como un proceso social de aproximacin de significados subjetivos o personales a los significados histrico-culturales plasmados en la compleja semitica del plano cartesiano.
