Abstract
L’attention portée à l’écriture de soi dans la bande dessinée ne s’accompagne pas nécessairement d’une forte préoccupation pour la représentation de soi : l’autoportrait demeure, en général, relativement dépassionné ou bien désincarné. On peut se demander si la bande dessinée, traditionnellement un art du personnage, se prête à l’art du portrait, et a fortiori de l’autoportrait. Pour permettre au lecteur de le reconnaître, il faut en effet que le visage se corresponde d’abord à lui-même : le portrait ne risque-t-il pas de se dissoudre au cours de cette objectivation préalable ? Pourtant, certains auteurs ouvrent une brèche narrativement riche de sens en exacerbant précisément cette tension entre la problématique du portrait et celle du personnage : ils actualisent ce faisant la distance sans cesse reconduite entre l’artiste et son modèle et font du portrait un processus essentiellement instable.
