Abstract
Suite à la guerre froide, les Forces canadiennes (FC) ont connu une crise existentielle grave qui a remis en question la qualité de l’éducation du corps des officiers. Le Collège militaire royal du Canada, l’université militaire qui forme environ 25 % de tous les aspirants officiers, s’est retrouvé au cœur des solutions envisagées pour corriger la situation. Parmi plusieurs disciplines vues comme essentielles dans l’éducation de celui qui choisit la profession des armes, l’histoire militaire fut remise au premier plan. Cet article brosse un tableau général sur la place prise par les cours d’histoire militaire et présente leur contenu. Il aborde aussi les difficultés inhérentes et les défis liés à l’enseignement de l’histoire militaire.
