Le satellite Odin, fruit d'une collaboration entre la Suede, la France, la Canada et la Finlande, a ete lance le 20 fevrier 2001. A son bord, l'instrument Sub-Millimetre Radiometer (SMR) mesure l'emission thermique de l'atmosphere, produite par des especes-traces comme O3, H2O, CO, CIO et N2O, dans la gamme de frequence 486-581 Ghz. Le temps d'observation de SMR est divise a parts egales entre le sondage du limbe de l'atmosphere moyenne de la Terre (10-110 km) et l'observation d'objets astrophysiques. Pour traiter et valider les mesures atmospheriques d'Odin/SMR, un modele de transfert radiatif et d'inversion, MOLIERE, a ete developpe par l'equipe d'Aeronomie du Laboratoire d'Astrodynamique, d'Astrophysique et d'Aeronomie de Bordeaux. Odin et MOLIERE sont presentes dans la premiere partie du manuscrit. Pour suivre les phenomenes de transport a l'echelle globale, SMR observe des molecules a longue duree de vie, dont le monoxyde de carbone par sa transition centree a 576,27 Ghz. Les proprietes atmospheriques du CO, l'inversion et les premiers elements de validation des mesures de SMR sont decrits dans la seconde partie. Une methode de correction des frequences a ete etablie pour pallier une defaillance instrumentale. Les donnees corrigees permettent l'utilisation operationnelle de MOLIERE pour inverser les mesures autour de 576,5 Ghz. Le rapport de melange de CO est finalement restitue entre 20 et 105 km, conjointement au profil de O3(18-85 km) de la temperature atmospherique (12-52 km). Des premieres comparaisons sont presentees, Elles montrent une bonne concordance entre le produit CO de SMR, les observations de UARS/ISAMS et des resultats des modeles WACCM et REPROBUS, et un excellent accord avec SciSat/ACE. Le drapport de melange de O3 est nettement sous-estime (jusqu'a 40 %) par rapporta Odin/OSIRIS et a REPROBUS. Au contraire, les differences entre la temperature estimee par SMR et des sources independantes (lidars, ECMWF, REPROBUS) sont inferieures a 5 %.
