Abstract
Les études budget-temps établissent que les hommes consacrent généralement davantage de temps au travail rémunéré que ne le font les femmes, mais que celles-ci consacrent plus de temps que leurs conjoints au travail domestique. À la suite de l’analyse de vingt-neuf entretiens avec des pères montréalais sur la conciliation entre la vie privée et la vie professionnelle, il s’est avéré que les pères adoptent différents types de rapports au temps. Une typologie a été élaborée pour en rendre compte. Elle présente cinq types de pères en fonction de leurs choix d’allocation du temps, soit l’égalitariste, le sacrifié, le multiactif, l’hypertravaillant et le communautaire. Cette recherche conclut à l’existence de liens entre le rapport au temps des pères et les conceptions qu’ont les pères de leurs rôles, tout comme elle souligne l’effet des pratiques en cours dans les milieux de travail sur les choix d’allocation du temps des pères.
