Cet article montre que Téléroman de Larry Tremblay emprunte la forme dramatique du « jeu de rêves » théorisée par Jean-Pierre Sarrazac pour brosser à la fois une satire des aficionados de fictions télévisuelles et de danse contemporaine. Sa pièce dépeint des danseurs amateurs en train de répéter une chorégraphie expérimentale, tandis qu’ils se passionnent pour le populaire feuilleton télévisé Piscine municipale. Plutôt que de privilégier la parodie, l’auteur use des détours que sont les fantasmes, l’enfance et les rêves, afin de faire retour sur la culture médiatique dans laquelle baignent ses personnages, culture qui ne manque pas d’influencer leurs comportements. Non seulement il critique les modèles stéréotypés proposés par les séries télévisées, mais il s’en prend à leur caractère prévisible et à leur culte d’un monde axé sur les apparences. L’univers de la danse contemporaine et ses faux génies ne sont pas épargnés non plus dans ce qui se révèle une critique double : des spectacles contemporains comme des comportements irrationnels des téléspectateurs.
