Abstract
Resume Le marche de la distribution alimentaire en Europe connait depuis plusieurs annees une mutation liee, d’une part, a un mouvement de concentration des entreprises et, d’autre part, a la montee en puissance de nouveaux concepts de distribution comme le maxidiscompte (hard discount) qui impose une plus grande concurrence tant aux distributeurs qu’aux industriels. Par ailleurs, dans le monde et dans toutes les industries, des entreprises familiales doivent faire face a la concurrence feroce de grandes societes. Cet article presente la strategie d’affaires et les valeurs de gestion du Groupe Colruyt, une societe familiale belge dont les actions sont negociees a la bourse. Plus precisement, il montre comment cette societe a su se developper et s’imposer comme l’un des plus importants distributeurs dans un marche fortement concurrentiel. En effet, le Groupe Colruyt est une entreprise representative des enseignes qui ne beneficient d’aucun avantage quant a la taille et qui, pourtant, resistent vaillamment a la concurrence theoriquement mieux dotee en ressources. Ce cas illustre bien le fait que, au-dela des tendances a la mondialisation et a la concentration des entreprises, certaines societes familiales peuvent encore resister et se developper autour d’atouts distinctifs.
