A continuacion se abordan las estrategias en materia de politicas de vivienda y territorio en la Union Europea desde la aprobacion de la Estrategia de Lisboa. Analizamos el reconocimiento de la vivienda social como servicio social de interes general y su papel en la consecucion de la cohesion social y territorial en el modelo social europeo. Se realiza un breve recorrido por las diferentes tendencias europeas en materia de vivienda social y las dificultades de los modelos de gestion utilizados en los Estados miembros. Para finalizar con las aportaciones que el Trabajo Social puede implementar en esta area de intervencion.
