Dans deux petits bassins synclinaux de gypse-anhydrite, sur le versant ouest de la rivière Petit Codiac, au sud de Moncton (N.-B.), s’est développé un méro-karst barré. Il se compose de dépressions fermées décamétriques à submétriques, de vallons secs en V, de deux grottes décamétriques et de nombreuses pertes et exsurgences impénétrables. La majorité de ces formes karstiques est holocène, à l’exception, au moins, d’une doline datant d’un interstade wisconsinien. Paradoxalement, la faible résistance de la roche-magasin a permis l’installation, et le maintien partiel, de ces formes d’érosion résultant de variations climatiques précises, allant du climat de toundra à la forêt boréale et acadienne.
