La perception que les gens ont de leur propre santé peut-elle être considérée comme un indicateur valable de l’évaluation de la santé d’une population? À partir des résultats de l’enquête Santé Québec où, en 1987, près de 20 000 personnes âgées de 15 ans et plus étaient invitées à qualifier leur santé, on peut vérifier que l’auto-évaluation de la santé se moule étroitement à d’autres indicateurs considérés plus « objectifs ». La correspondance est particulièrement frappante avec les indicateurs de santé mentale. Ces premiers résultats suggèrent des pistes de recherche en vue de l’utilisation du concept de la perception de la santé en planification des soins et services.
