Abstract
Le but de cette etude quantitative est d’evaluer les aboutissants de la communication âgiste au travail. Menee aupres d’infirmieres francophones canadiennes âgees de 45 ans et plus (N = 306), les resultats montrent que la communication âgiste constitue le declencheur d’un processus de desengagement psychologique. En outre, ce retrait virtuel du monde du travail reduit l’estime de soi de ces travailleuses et les incite a un depart a la retraite. Ce faisant, cette etude montre que la communication âgiste au travail est dommageable en ce qu’elle prive les organisations de l’engagement des travailleurs d’experience dont celles-ci ont pourtant besoin pour combler les penuries de main-d’œuvre, actuelles comme futures.
