Abstract
Depuis le milieu des années 1990, plusieurs mouvements sociaux remettent en cause les fonctionnements marchands qu’ils accusent d’être à l’origine de différents types de désordres, comme la dégradation de l’environnement, la précarisation des petits producteurs ou encore l’exploitation des travailleurs dans les pays du Sud. Cette contestation désigne directement l’idéologie néo-libérale qui exercerait différentes formes de pouvoir en imposant la rationalité économique comme seul principe d’orientation des conduites et des décisions, pour les acteurs privés mais également pour les acteurs publics. Les consommateurs apparaissent à la fois comme les cibles de ces mouvements, lorsque ceux-ci remettent en cause leur contribution passive aux externalités négatives des fonctionnements marchands, comme des ressources, lorsqu’ils tentent de les mobiliser pour exercer des pressions économiques, mais également comme des challengers lorsqu’ils engagent les consommateurs citoyens à exercer des pressions sur les acteurs publics pour modifier la gouvernance de la régulation marchande.
