Abstract
This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: Primary objective: To quantify the dose‐related systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure lowering efficacy of ACE inhibitors versus placebo in the treatment of primary hypertension. Secondary objectives: 1. To determine the effects of ACE inhibitors on variability of blood pressure. 2. To determine the effects of ACE inhibitors on pulse pressure. 3. To quantify the dose‐related effects of ACE inhibitors on heart rate. 4. To quantify the dose‐related effect of ACE inhibitors on withdrawals due to adverse events.
