RésuméCet article vise à discuter du rôle des entrepreneurs dans la création d’un quartier et d’une communauté ethniques. Pendant les quatre dernières décennies, les Portugais de Montréal ont développé une communauté complexe et prospère, démarrant des organisations, des entreprises et des services de communication et d’information dans leur langue. Qui sont les principaux acteurs qui se cachent derrière la fondation du quartier portugais ? D’une part, la question centrale est de savoir si les entrepreneurs sont des agents de changements social et économique, capables de créer des conditions pour la sociabilité et pour l’affirmation des valeurs culturelles portugaises à Montréal. D’autre part, de manière plus générale, nous cherchons à comprendre, à travers l’histoire de la création d’un quartier ethnique, comment s’exerce l’influence des entrepreneurs sur le changement social et économique.
