Abstract
À l’observation de la structure spatioéconomique du Québec, deux modèles apparaissent clairement. Basé sur le principe de centralité, l’un s’avère fort bien illustré par l’ensemble urbain de la vallée du Saint-Laurent, tandis que l’autre correspond parfaitement au principe d’accessibilité qui s’impose dans la très vaste périphérie. L’espace Québec se présente aussi quadrillé en territoires de gestion pour l’exercice efficace de fonctions publiques liées à l’organisation territoriale de biens, de services et de programmes. Il s’agit principalement des municipalités traditionnelles, des régions administratives, des municipalités régionales de comté (MRC) et maintenant des zones économiques désignées. Au-delà de ces deux types de modèle qui servent de cadre de référence à l’analyse, la dynamique spatioéconomique contemporaine du Québec fait émerger de nouvelles formes territoriales à travers l’espace structuré et quadrillé. Nous distinguons en réalité une quadruple division progressive de l’économie autour des activités liées à l’extraction des ressources, à la production manufacturière, à la consommation de biens et services ainsi qu’à l’innovation. Selon notre lecture exposée dans ce texte, se pose actuellement la question d’un modèle général de cohérence globale. Notre analyse spatioéconomique offre à cet effet des éléments de réponse.
