EnglishThis study focus the specifics of the professional practice of social workers in health from the debate about the tools and techniques. The survey has been done with The Social workers in Primary Assistance Health in Juiz de Fora/MG and discusses de challenges to strength the democratic character of public health care services. portuguesO presente artigo aborda as especificidades da pratica profissional do assistente social na saude a partir do debate sobre os instrumentos e tecnicas. A pesquisa a ser apresentada foi realizada com assistentes sociais inseridos na atencao primaria a saude em Juiz de Fora/MG e problematiza os desafios para se fortalecer o carater democratico dos servicos publicos de saude.
