Alors qu’une profusion de réflexions sont diffusées aujourd’hui sur le concept de nation québécoise, peu d’entre elles abordent l’idée qu’une nation est aussi un concept géopolitique, et suppose un territoire. Ce constat est à mettre en relation avec l’extrême pauvreté de la représentation cartographique du Québec. La publication récente d’une nouvelle carte, conçue par des instances plus politiques, et qui trouve un accueil très positif au sein du public, illustre cependant une conception du territoire du Québec très différente des cartes précédentes. Elle illustre à quel point la carte est aussi un outil géopolitique, établissant un lien entre représentation graphique du territoire et définition du territoire national.
