Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoglu, a leading novelists of “national literature” period is a name who has stood out in every period due to innovations he has brought to the Turkish novel. His novels as Mansion for Rent, Father Nur, The Wild, Ankara, Evening of Decree Sodom and Gomorra, An Exile, Panorama I and Panorama II and Always The Same Song and some other works of prose, stories and memories are among some of his works. Novels written through Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoglu, and in particular his novel styled “Ankara” includes certain values and concepts thereby creating works with literary significance. The author has employed his neighborhood, quarter, city and the people from different walks of life from different parts of the country while creating his works and continued this approach in his novel styled “Ankara” and has reflected the nature of the Anatolian people and the situation of Ankara during the National Struggle. The heroes of the novel, settings and the reflections of the war are explained in an impressive language and psychology of people and their changing lives and attitudes also included. This study aims to evaluate this novel on which many articles have been written and many studies have been conducted by many researchers one more time in today’s conditions and see more clearly the point our country has reached in terms of literature more clearly. The subject of the work, the main protagonists, different moods of the heroes and changes thereof constitute the center of our study. We will examine the novel considering the foregoing with a critical attitude and reveal our views through employment of the author’s point of view and the views of different researchers.
