Dans Vu d’ici, Mathieu Arsenault se livre à un violent réquisitoire contre la télévision, dont il dénonce, à la suite d’un certain nombre d’intellectuels (Guy Debord, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Noam Chomsky, Pierre Bourdieu…), les fonctionnements et les effets idéologiques. Après s’être attaché aux réseaux métaphoriques que déploie l’auteur pour alerter les consciences quant au fait que la télévision, symbole et vitrine de la société de consommation, est aussi — voire surtout — l’étai du conformisme et de l’attentisme politiques, cet article analyse la façon dont elle devient, aussi bien dans le texte que sur scène, une forme de supra-identité venant infiltrer la voix et le corps du locuteur. À côté des manières de voir qu’elle institue, la télévision engage aussi des manières de dire et de faire, des énoncés et des gestes, que l’écriture poétique et scénique de Vu d’ici s’attache à explorer et critiquer sur un mode tour à tour insidieux, offensif ou parodique.
