Abstract
Résumé Les parents recourent à un certain nombre de stratégies pour concilier activité professionnelle et responsabilités familiales telles que le Shift Parenting (les deux parents ont des horaires de travail décalés l’un par rapport à l’autre) ou un emploi flexible. Les grands-parents restent une source d’aide importante dans un pays où les modes de garde formels des enfants sont encore insuffisants. Même si les pouvoirs publics aident résolument les femmes qui occupent un emploi rémunéré, le travail des mères suscite toujours des controverses politiques. Alors que le gouvernement travailliste encourage vivement toutes les femmes à avoir un travail rémunéré, le parti conservateur continue de promouvoir la famille traditionnelle.
