Abstract
Cet article entend présenter une courte réflexion sur l’anti-américanisme canadien, en l’illustrant d’une étude de caricatures politiques qui permettra de jauger la réaction canadienne lors des moments clés qui scandent la relation avec les Etats-Unis. L’on montrera que la tradition anti-américaine du Canada est particulièrement vivante au XIXe siècle, avant de s’estomper après les deux guerres mondiales. Alors que l’on peut estimer que l’adoption du libre-échange a marqué de façon symbolique la fin de l’anti-américanisme au Canada, la présente étude montrera la survie de cette tradition et de son expression à travers les caricatures politiques jusqu’à nos jours.
