Abstract
In this article, I offer a systematic analysis of the issues related to the evolution of the notion of justice in Ancient Egyptian thought and political culture, using the material of some spells of Pyramid Texts of Old Kingdom, ‘Precept to the King Merikare’ of First Intermediate period, ancient Egyptian Coffin Texts of Middle Kingdom, some sources from the time of Akhenaten and New Kingdom’s hymns to Amun-Re of Theban theology This notion was founded on ethical aspects of the basic Egyptian category ‘Maat’ (world-order, justice, truth) and its historical evolution.
