Abstract
La prévision de la demande d'électricité est une activité qui utilise abondamment les perspectives démographiques comme intrants dans son analyse. Cette prévision de la demande sert à son tour à justifier les projets de construction ou de rejection des équipements nécessaires à la fourniture d'électricité pour les prochaines décennies. L'objectif de cet article est de présenter la manière dont sont utilisées les perspectives démographiques dans le processus de prévision de la demande d'électricité au Québec. La première partie présente les méthodes, les hypothèses et les résultats des projections de population et de ménages réalisées à Hydro-Québec pour la mise à jour du dernier plan de développement de la Société. Dans la seconde section, les auteurs montrent les applications de cette projection démographique pour la prévision de la demande d'électricité, en accordant une attention particulière au secteur résidentiel.
