ES LA PRIMERA VEZ QUE LO GANA UN REPRESENTANTE DE MEXICO Y EN ESPECIFICO DE LA UNAM EN ESTA CATEGORIA. ESTUDIE EL EFECTO ANTIFUNGICO DE LAS NANOPARTICULAS DE PLATA Y TRICLOSAN, LOS CUALES SE PODRIAN AGREGAR A CIERTO TIPO DE MATERIALES DENTALES, COMO LOS DE IMPRESION (DE USO COMUN ENTRE LOS CIRUJANOS DENTISTAS), CON EL OBJETIVO DE CONTROLAR INFECCIONES CRUZADAS EN EL AREA ODONTOLOGICA, DIJO ACEVEDO CONTRERAS. LOS RESULTADOS FAVORABLES DE ESTE TRABAJO PERMITIRAN ABRIR OTRAS LINEAS DE INVESTIGACION CON EL PROPOSITO DE MEJORAR ALGUNOS PRODUCTOS A PARTIR DE LA UTILIZACION DE NANOPARTICULAS. ES FRECUENTE QUE EN CUALQUIER MATERIAL O INCLUSO OBJETO ODONTOLOGICO QUE YA ESTE COLOCADO EN LA BOCA (CORONA, PROTESIS, IMPLANTE), SE FORMEN MICROORGANISMOS POR LA HUMEDAD DE LA ZONA. LA UNIVERSITARIA ENCONTRO QUE LAS NANOPARTICULAS DE PLATA TIENEN UN EFECTO ANTIFUNGICO Y QUE, EN COMBINACION CON EL TRICLOSAN (UN PODEROSO AGENTE ANTIBACTERIANO QUE YA SE UTILIZA EN GOMAS DE MASCAR), SE POTENCIA EL EFECTO.
