Abstract
La politique linguistique fédérale et la Loi 101 québécoise diffèrent grandement dans leurs versions originales. La première affirme le principe de la personnalité, les droits linguistiques individuels et l’égalité linguistique; la seconde repose sur les droits collectifs, la territorialité et la priorité accordée à la langue française. L’évolution de ces deux politiques depuis vingt ans a fait émerger dans la pratique plusieurs parallèles entre elles, lesquels indiquent qu’elles sont en définitive compatibles dans les faits. Dans ce contexte, nous avançons ici que les perspectives d’une coexistence des deux politiques sous leurs formes actuelles sont moins douteuses que certains critiques ne l’assurent.
