Les objectifs de l'economie experimentale sont resumes dans le triptyque enonce par Roth (1988). L'economie experimentale est un outil important de refutation de modeles theoriques existants (Speaking to Theorists). Les observations experimentales permettent de tester les predictions theoriques et de mettre en evidence des regularites comportementales non predites par les modeles. L'economie experimentale permet egalement d'explorer des situations peu ou mal theorisees (Searching for Facts). Les experiences ont donc pour objectif d'isoler les causes des regularites non predites par les modeles et d'en proposer une formalisation nouvelle
