Abstract
Jacques Peuchet est encore jeune en 1781, au moment où Panckoucke fait imprimer le prospectus de l'Encyclopédie méthodique ou par ordre de matières.Comme on sait, la publication de cet ensemble d'environ deux cents volumes s'étale sur un demi-siècle jusqu'en 1832 et connaît de multiples rebondissements, dont la mort du libraireimprimeur, la mort ou le retrait de plusieurs directeurs d'ouvrages, diverses restructurations.Les événements politiques eux-mêmes ont rendu indispensables des changements importants dans des domaines tels que l'histoire et la jurisprudence.2 Peuchet ne fait pas partie de la liste des rédacteurs mentionnés par le premier prospectus, mais on a de lui trois volumes : deux du Dictionnaire de Police et Municipalités (1788-1791) et un de l'inachevé Assemblée Nationale Constituante (1792)…qui ne comporte que la lettre A.
