Abstract
The narrative of John Strawson's Partitioning Palestine: Legal Fundamentalism in the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict focuses on the seminal period of the British Mandate and the fateful decision of the United Nations in 1947 to partition Palestine. It aims to employ the insights of international law as part of an historical analysis to explore some of the key turning points in the development of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but ultimately falls short of its goals. The book is marred by some defective historical conclusions and by a faulty use of the applicable international law.
