Abstract

La communauté haïtienne compte maintenant près de 30 000 membres au Québec. Cette communauté n'est pas homogène et les clivages qui la traversent renvoient tant à la diversité des origines sociales de ses membres qu'aux conditions concrètes dans lesquelles ceux-ci, à différentes périodes, eurent à s'insérer dans la société québécoise. Dans un premier temps nous situons cette immigration dans la hiérarchie des réseaux migratoires en provenance d'Haïti. Nous abordons ensuite le rôle de cette immigration dans les sociétés capitalistes avancées et particulièrement au Québec. Nous présentons finalement quelques données préliminaires, vues sous l'angle des statistiques officielles d'immigration, sur les grandes caractéristiques socio-démographiques de ce courant migratoire.
