Abstract
Neste artigo, um exame dos recursos comuns tradicionais é seguido de uma explicação sobre como as pessoas têm resistido ao seu cercamento – com referência específica às lutas para preservar o espaço voltado à recreação. A seguir, examino a pesquisa recente sobre os recursos comuns e a identificação cada vez maior de outros recursos desse tipo. Na parte final, o artigo explora as implicações de se considerar o esporte como um recurso comum de caráter cultural e conclui argumentando que os recursos comuns são um tema exemplar para uma sociologia pública do esporte.
