Abstract
Limitation déterminée du nombre des citoyens, division tripartite du corps civique de la polis en classes sociales, division fonctionnelle du territoire de la ville en trois lots, division tripartite des lois en espèces juridiques liées aux trois genres de délits: telles sont les célèbres innovations opérées par Hippodamos à Milet et au Pirée au cours du Vème siècle grec. Le zoning fonctionnel hippodamien nous propose une autre grammaire spatiale qui rend compte à la fois de la rationalité et de la géométrie des structures civiques et des programmes idéologiques dont elles constituent l’expression. L’urbanisme ionien classique ainsi esquissé, constitue-t-il une révolution des manières d’agencement du territoire de la cité grecque ou un rayonnement des paradigmes architecturaux expérimentés dans le milieu colonial de la Sicile du VIIe s. av. J.-C. ?
