Résumé La politique québécoise à l’égard des personnes âgées ayant des incapacités est passée d’une politique d’institutionnalisation à une politique de maintien à domicile. Au gré de cette évolution, l’État a lancé un appel croissant à la pourvoyance familiale, tout en laissant une place grandissante aux associations et au marché. Les familles et la population québécoises ne semblent pas partager cette approche libérale. Pour elles, la conciliation solidarité/autonomie exige une implication substantielle de l’État dans les soins.
