O presente artigo, derivado da tese de doutorado, aborda a dimensao afetiva na relacao educativa, do ponto de vista das representacoes sociais dos professores em formacao, numa universidade publica do estado da Bahia. A coleta de dados foi realizada mediante tres instrumentos: associacoes livres, a partir do termo indutor afetividade, entrevistas semi-estruturadas e conjuntos hierarquicos sucessivos. O primeiro desses instrumentos, aplicado a cem participantes, resultou em 249 evocacoes; os demais foram aplicados quinze participantes. Os resultados da investigacao confirma a importância da dimensao afetiva para a aprendizagem dos alunos e mostram o possivel nucleo da representacao da afetividade.
