In this paper we describe a new architecture of a frequency-to-voltage converter (FVC) and its high frequency integrated applications. The circuit is of a reduced complexity and its CMOS implementation requires a very small area. Besides its small integration area, the circuit is very fast and has many interesting high frequency applications. This FVC is used to build an integrated high-precision voltage-controlled oscillator that requires a stable reference voltage to produce a stable output, waveform. Two FVCs are also used to build an integrated frequency-locked loop circuit similar to a phase-locked loop design, but with higher performances regarding circuit complexity, locking time and frequency dynamic range.
