Abstract
Depuis les années 1960, malgré les prédictions pessimistes des théoriciens de l’agriculture et des observateurs coloniaux, les agricultures de la majorité des pays du Sud-Est asiatique connaissent une très forte croissance. Cette fuite en avant a même atteint le domaine maritime, avec le développement rapide des productions aquatiques, y compris par l’aquaculture marine. Depuis peu l’expansion territoriale et les rendements parmi les cultures d’exportation progressent nettement plus rapidement que parmi les cultures vivrières. Ceci s’accompagne d’un accroissement du rôle des multinationales de l’agriculture qui tendent à remplacer les États comme gestionnaires du domaine agricole, y compris les fronts pionniers.
