Hallin y Mancini plantean una catalogacion de los sistemas audiovisuales que imperan en las principales sociedades, tanto europeas como de Estados Unidos y Canada. El libro de Enrique Bustamante vincula conceptos tales como produccion, programacion y difusion en un mercado audiovisual que los considera como claros productos economicos en el seno de un mercado altamente competitivo. En su argumentacion, excluye a la television publica por considerar que no vende nada a nadie y porque la sociedad se encuentra atravesando un periodo de crisis del servicio publico. Esta obra expone con claridad los conceptos que distinguen a la television publica de la privada. El analisis del Anuario DirCom abarca todas las areas geograficas y una amplia diversidad de medios, escritos y audiovisuales, Internet, agencias informativas y agencias de publicidad; este anuario es uno de los mas accesibles y reconocidos de su genero.
