Abstract
Mexico y Canada se encuentran vinculados mucho mas que por un tratado de libre comercio: comparten frontera con la nacion mas poderosa del planeta. Su vecindad con Estados Unidos de Norteamerica representa para ambos paises una influencia permanente que ha impactado y continua impactando en su identidad cultural desde el principio de su origen como nacion. En el caso de Mexico, la relacion con Estados Unidos se ha calificado de ser de «vecinos distantes». En el caso del Canada, la vecindad con Estados Unidos pareciera ser mas bien necesaria y prudente. El presente trabajo analiza las implicaciones de la vecindad de Mexico y Canada con los Estados Unidos y de las condiciones de su relacion no solo en el ambito cultural sino tambien en otros aspectos en el marco del contexto internacional. Asi mismo, en este trabajo se abordan los esfuerzos de cada uno de los gobiernos de Mexico y de Canada en terminos de generar una politica cultural y de comunicacion que permita cohesionar sus identidades nacionales en cada uno de estos paises
