Abstract
Cet article cherche à mettre en lumière la fonction de la littérature pour la jeunesse dans le processus d’affirmation de la culture moderne de la fiction qui s’effectue dans les années 1930 au Québec. Il montre plus particulièrement comment la littérature pour la jeunesse constitue, en complétant la formation du lecteur et en définissant les frontières de la fiction, une des médiations qui permettent le passage d’une défense « classique » du roman (qui le soumet à une finalité didactique ou morale) à l’affirmation d’un horizon plus moderne, au sein duquel l’expérience fictionnelle accède à une certaine forme d’autonomie.
