Les enseignants du secteur de la formation professionnelle au Québec se distinguent par leur recrutement et leur insertion dans la profession. Au cœur de cette transition d’un métier occupé vers son enseignement dans les centres de formation professionnelle, ces enseignants sont amenés à opérer des changements sur le plan technique, mais aussi sur le plan humain. Alors que les compétences techniques acquises au cours de la carrière initiale sont largement reconnues, les aspects humains comme les valeurs consolidées au cours de la même période sont beaucoup moins documentés. Ce texte présente dans le cadre d’une recherche qualitative à perspective compréhensive, une modélisation associant l’organisation en système des valeurs (Schwartz, 2006) au processus de construction identitaire (Perez-Roux, 2011) à travers une analyse de contenu visant à identifier les différentes valeurs et analyser leurs rôles dans la transition professionnelle d’une identité de métier vers une nouvelle identité enseignante.
