Abstract
Die Krankheit AIDS und die von ihr Betroffenen werden seit einigen Jahren in der Öffentlichen Diskussion kaum mehr erwähnt. Ein massgeblicher Grund für diese Entwicklung ist die zunehmende Chronifizierung dieser Erkrankung, die vor allem auch durch die – seit der Konferenz in Vancouver 1996 proklamierte – Kombinationstherapie und die Einführung der Proteasehemmer stark voranschreitet. Spätestens seit Vancouver gilt AIDS in den westlichen Industrienationen als eine prinzipiell behandelbare – wenngleich auch noch immer nicht heilbare – Krankheit. Für das Gesundheitsversorgungssystem allgemein und die medizinisch-pflegerischen Einrichtungen im Besonderen ergibt sich dadurch eine grundlegend andere Anforderung in Bezug auf die Versorgung der Betroffenen. Um diesen eine adäquate Begleitung gewähren zu können, erscheint es zunächst unabdingbar, sich die Veränderungen seit Vancouver einmal umfassend zu betrachten. Der vorliegende Beitrag soll daher die Diskussion in der Literatur zu diesem Thema skizzieren.
