The Martini Second Order Stirling Simulation Program has been recast in Fortran 77 to be easy to use and graphics oriented for use with micro-computers by non-specialists. About 30 copies of the program have been sold or given away and an unknown number of 'pirate' copies are in use. This paper summarises the experience gained and the lessons learned by the originating group in bringing the Stirling engine design aid to a useful stage of development and applying it to the field.
