Abstract
Este artículo tiene como objetivo discutir las principales tesis de una disciplina paradigmática en el desarrollo de las ciencias de la comunicación, la cual definió el concepto moderno de información desde los años cuarenta: la cibernética. Se pretende vincular la propuesta cibernética, según fue conceptualizada por Norbert Wiener, con los discursos contemporáneos sobre una sociedad de la información, y desmitificar, de esta forma, la idea de la emergencia de esta última como un concepto novedoso. A fin de cuentas, se propone estudiar y entrar en la llamada sociedad de la información por medio de las avenidas teóricas, edificadas desde el origen mismo de la comunicación como disciplina científica.
