Abstract
Forskning har visat att handfunktion försämras med stigande ålder och begränsar äldre människors aktiviteter i det dagliga livet. Syftet med studien var att ta reda på i vilka dagliga aktiviteter äldre kvinnor upplever aktivitetsbegränsningar på grund av upplevd nedsatt handfunktion. Studien har en tvärsnittsdesign med kvantitativ ansats där Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM), Quick Disability of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (QuickDASH), Jamar Dynamometer och Pinch Gauge använts som bedömningsinstrument. Arton äldre kvinnor med en medianålder på 78 år (range 75-99) deltog i undersökningen. Aktivitetsbegränsningarna var bland annat att öppna burk/flaska/mjölkpaket, lyfta stekpanna, dammsuga, tvätta ryggen, knäppa knappar, att tappa saker samt att stryka kläder. Greppstyrkan i helhandsgreppet och fingertoppsgreppet var lägre i jämförelse med normalvärden för dominanta handen hos friska kvinnor över 75 år.
